present this 1968 Rickenbacker 366/12
Convertible! This
is a rare and collectable Rickenbacker. According
to “The Complete History of Rickenbacker Guitars”
by Richard R. Smith it is 1 of only 13 produced in MapleGlo in1968. It has the unmistakable
sound of a semi hollow all maple constructed
guitar outfitted with top shelf electronics. It
has a lovely jangle to its tone and lots of
sustain. The most prominent feature on this guitar
is obviously it’s unique “comb” which lets you
switch easily from 6 to 12 string mode.
Everything on this
guitar is 100% original except the bushing for the
tuners – they have been replaced. Everything else is
original – the finish, the pickups, the tuners
themselves, the electronics and the hard shell
case.
This vintage Rickenbacker 366 /
12 Convertible is in very good condition. There
are some small nicks and dings on the body and
some buckle rash on the back. There was a
headstock repair at one time that has been done professionally and held up well over the years. The guitar has a fair
amount of checking to the finish. The frets show
minimal wear. This guitar will surely please a
collector as well as a player.
This guitar’s serial number
dates its production to January 1968.
