to present this 1973 Rickenbacker 4001!
That’s right – this JetGlo Rick 4001 has been
signed by Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue fame. It is a
tremendous playing bass. The action is low and
even and it plays great in all positions. Single
note basslines, slapping and popping, chords, etc
– they all play great. It has a nice low end too
it, a juicy mid range and a very even and balanced
high end. The playability of this 4001 is sure to
kickstart your heart and make you feel good.
Item Details
This 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 is finished in JetGlo
black and features a few clever
aftermarket upgrades. For instance, a beautiful piece of Rosewood
has been inlayed to the bass and a Fender style
bridge has been mounted to it. The work looks like
it was very well done and is very solid. It
contributes to the fine tone of this bass by
adding a little more bite to the tone and attack.
The Nikki Sixx signature is obviously a great
addition for any Motley Crue fan. The tuners are
replaced as well with German made closed gear
Schallers. Of course, one of the best features is the fact that its original Ric single coils pickups are still cranking on all cylinders!
Overall Condition
This Rickenbacker 4001 bass is in
very good to excellent condition. It has been well
played over the years and shows typical wear for a
bass that age but it does not seem like it has been
abused. There are some chips to the finish along the
edges and some finish scratches here and there but
nothing that looks out of place with a bass this
old. The frets show only light use and have tons of
life left to them. This is a great playing vintage
bass and a collectors item at that.
