1979 Rickekbacker 4001

Rickenbacker’s 4000 Series basses are easily the coolest out there. Just ask Paul McCartney, Lemmy Kilmister, Chris Squire, John Entwistle, Cliff Burton, Roger Waters, as well as newer players like Jack Lawrence and Jesse Keeler. This 4001 dates to 1979 and looks killer in this Mapleglo finish. With its all-maple neck-through construction and twin Rickenbacker pickups it has a sound you can’t touch with any other bass. Plus, with the Ric-O-Sound stereo outputs (in addition to mono) and a splitter box you can send each pickup to a separate amp and really dial things in. A real icon, and for good reason. The 4001 has more style than anything else out there with the “crested wave” cutaway, shark-fin inlays, finished rosewood fingerboard, and bound body and neck. Rest assured, this is a good one. Plays great, is well balanced and pretty light at 9.0 lbs. A “number one” all the way!

Cosmetic Condition:

Even with 30+ years of service this one remains in very good condition. There are small nicks and scratches throughout the bass but is has been well kept. It has no big dings/dents or anything else outside the norm. There are some scattered paint chips and some mild “buckle rash” on the back of the body. Part of the serial number has been worn away but the electronics and other features date to 1979.

Repairs & Mods:

100% original with no cracks, breaks, repairs or modifications. 

Feel & Playability:

Plays like dream with great action! Necks don’t come any straighter than this. It has a medium round profile that most players will be very comfortable on. No dead spots on the neck. They don’t come any better than this!
